One of Stephen's bachelor friends, Ken, lives in a three story house with a rooftop deck overlooking all of Santa Barbara and the ocean. The place was packed with people, and decorated to the nines. Football balloons, tablecloths, cutlery, plates, cups, serving dishes, hand towels in the bathroom...you name it, it was themed. There was a full, open bar complete with bartenders. There were cocktail waitresses dressed in pigtails, black smudges under their eyes and jerseys. It was fully catered with dishes local to New England and New York. Coney Island hot dogs, New York thin crust pizza, New York strip steaks, clam chowder, crab legs, oysters, mussels, lobster dip...the menu was outrageous. I guess that's what this guy does every year: the menu depends on which teams play in the big game. This year, every time the Giants scored, the waitresses brought around mini shots of Manhattans; with the Patriots it was small cups of Sam Adams beer.
I didn't take any pictures of the details--I tend to get a little crazy with my camera, and I didn't want to embarrass Stephen; ALL his friends were there and I just didn't want to be the girlfriend who Would Not Stop with the flash. Here are my Superbowl Sunday offerings:
I wore black in protest.
At least we didn't put on the hats.
One of the six rooms outfitted with a large screen plasma television mounted to the wall; this pictures shows but a smattering of the guests in attendance.
My very first Santa Barbara rainbow!
A hearty, HEARTY congratulations to the New York Giants for pulling off one of the most exciting upsets in the history of Superbowl games. Like I texted my sister after the game, "That. Was. AWESOME!" And I loooooooved the look on Tom Brady's face as he was running off the field after the game. Brought out the Nelson in me: "HAHA!"
And now, with an eye already on next year, GO PACKERS!
